Enterprise Programme

Self-employment advice programme free to anyone looking at starting a business.

Starting a new business can be a rewarding alternative to working for someone else. However, working for yourself requires careful planning and preparation. At Yorkshire Coast Enterprise we provide our clients with confidential and impartial business advice.

New Enterprise Allowance

Self Employment support for customers on Jobseekers allowance, ESA and Income Support

If you have a good idea for a business you want to set up, you could get: 

 ·    practical help and support to prepare you for self-employment 

·    help and support in setting up your business

·    support for at least the first six months of trading

·    Once your business plan has been approved, a weekly allowance is paid for the first 26 weeks of business, to help you during start up when your earnings may rise and fall 

·    You can apply for a loan of up to £1,000

Workplace Skills & Apprenticeships

Do you have any employees who are in need of skills updating? Are you working and wanting to gain a qualification?

Yorkshire Coast Enterprise LTD is now able to offer work based learning across a number of sectors. We offer access to NVQ's for employed individuals under our Workplace Skills Programme.

Customer Service - Level 2 & 3

Business Administration - Level 2, 3 & 4

IT - Level 2 & 3

Team Leading - Level 2

Starting Fresh - Real Learning Opportunities for youths

Starting Fresh is a project aiming to support young people who are looking for new learning opportunities to access relevant support and training. If you are aged between 16 and 19 (and up to 25 if you have a registered learning difficulty or are a care leaver) and are currently not in education, employment or training and live in York or North Yorkshire we can offer a variety of challenging and fulfilling opportunities to start learning new skills.

Starting Fresh is available in Scarborough, Malton and Whitby areas. You will be supported throughout your courses and once you have gained your qualifications we will support you into mainstream learning or employment.

Skills Support for the Unemployed and Redundant

A support programme targeted at up-skilling or re-skilling individuals to improve their employment opportunities through the delivery of targeted careers advice, skills-based interventions including accredited units and qualifications to meet the needs of employers offering recruitment opportunities. This is a short sharp training intervention for people relatively close to being job ready.

The Skills Support programme can offer you funded support which includes advice, guidance and re-training opportunities to help prepare for a new job, a new career or business start-up.

Community Learning

Confident to Work  - Confidence Building

Are you aged 19+, unemployed, and lacking in confidence? Not sure where to go from here?

Aimed at ones with learning difficulties and disabilities, Confident to work is a confidence building training programme over 6 weeks for people wanting to benefit from developing greater self-confidence, self-esteem & self-worth, while at the same time, getting trust worthy, personal growth guidance and motivation.

The Work Programme

The work programme - What is it?

It is a 2 year mandatory programme that is designed to help people get back into the work place for those people who have been unemployed for a certain length of time.

We will work with the customer in a range of one to one meetings or group sessions to create a career progression plan to develop the customer into sustainable employment or self employment.
